Certification – Application Process

  1. Application Form
    1. Pay the Advance Payment (details in ‘Application Fee’ section below).
    2. Complete the EMDR Certification Application Form located at the bottom of this page. Ensure completeness and accuracy, attach the Advance Payment Proof, and submit.
  2. Documents Submission (scanned soft copies)
    1. Graduation Certificate: Your university or college degree related to counseling.
    2. Counseling Experience Declaration: Your written declaration of your one-to-one counseling experience (details and starting month)
    3. Certificate of Completion: Of your EMDR Therapy Basic Training.
    4. EMDR Sessions Experience: A declaration stating the number of EMDR sessions conducted and the number of clients treated.
    5. Guidance & Supervision (G&S):  Supporting detailed documentation from your Trainer(s)/Consultant(s).
    6. Trainer Letter of Recommendation: Signed by the same trainer as on your COC.
    7. Employer Letter of Recommendation: Attesting to your professional practice and standing. Note: If you are practicing EMDR in a private clinic or self-employed, EMDRHK will accept a supporting letter from peers or colleagues (subject to ad-hoc approval by EMDRHK).
  3. Review and Confirmation by EMDRHK
    1. EMDRHK will review your application and documents.
    2. If needed, EMDRHK will contact you for additional information.
    3. Upon satisfactory review, a conditional confirmation will be sent to you via email.
  4. Final Steps to Certification
    1. Send notarized copies of all the above documents to EMDRHK.
    2. Send by email the proof of payment of the remaining application fee.
    3. Receive your “Certified EMDR Therapist” title and certificate within three weeks of notarized document submission. Your title will also be added in your listing in the Registry of EMDR Therapists of Hong Kong and in Find a Registered EMDR Therapist.

Application Fee

  • EMDRHK members: HKD1,200.
  • Non-members: HKD2,000.
  • Payment: 50% with the Application Form, balance upon submission of the notarized documents.

Term

  • Certification is valid for two years.
  • To extend for an additional year:
    • Submit a record of four (4) G&S sessions taken each year post-certification.
    • Pay the renewal fee (HKD800 for members, HKD1,500 for non-members).
